The
Power of Enzymes
Could
you possibly be enzyme deficient?
If
you are, you’re not alone. Many
people are lacking the enzymes necessary for a healthy body due to a poor diet.
Enzymes
have often been referred to as the “sparks of life” because they
are needed for almost all bodily functions.
They are energized protein molecules that play an important
role in digesting food, detoxification, stimulating the brain,
giving energy to our cells, and repairing our tissues, organs and
cells.
While
there are many different types of enzymes, most people are concerned
about Digestive Enzymes.
Our bodies begin to digest food as soon as it enters our
mouths. Our saliva
begins to break down many starches and sugars.
Then the food travels to our stomach and intestines where it
is further digested by many more enzymes.
If there aren’t enough enzymes in the mouth, stomach and
intestines for digestion, food passes through or bodies undigested.
When this happens, we experience many problems such as gas,
bloating, indigestion,
heartburn, and many other
chronic disorders.
Enzymes
can also be found in raw fruits and
vegetables. However,
once a fruit or vegetable is heated to just (118°
F or above) all the enzymes are destroyed.
If we do not consume foods that are enzyme rich, then a lot
of pressure is put on our bodies to produce large amounts of enzymes
to digest our food. Over
time, and after many years of having a poor diet, our body’s
enzyme stores become depleted and we experience many health
problems. Therefore, in
order for our bodies to properly digest our food WE
MUST EAT RAW FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
Not
only are enzymes good for digesting food but, they are very
beneficial for helping with arthritis, reducing inflammation,
allergies, boosting the immune system, etc…
A
good strategy to adopt is a diet that is a minimum of 50% raw
fruits and vegetables and 50% cooked food. This will provide your body with the enzymes needed for good
health.
For example, you could have fresh fruit for
breakfast, munch on some raw veggies throughout the day and have a
large colorful salad for dinner.
Before you know it, you have eaten a healthy enzyme rich diet
of primarily fresh fruits and vegetables.
Here
are some fruits and vegetables that are super rich in enzymes:
Avocados |
broccoli |
papayas |
sprouts |
pineapples |
cabbage |
bananas |
dark green leafy vegetables |
mangos |
wheat grass juice |
If you feel that your enzyme
deficiency is especially severe, along with a good diet you may
benefit from taking enzyme supplements.
These can be found in the form of tablets and capsules. Some good ones to look for are Bromelain, Papaya tablets or a
Multi-enzyme complex. These
can all be found at the nutritional supplements counter at
EVERLASTING LIFE CO-OP.

A HEALTHY DAY!
